Langebaan Lagoon Celebration
Langebaan is a true tourism town, and for good reason. The idyllic setting on the shore of the Langebaan Lagoon, alongside the West Coast National Park, conditions which encourage a wide variety of water sports and our rich cultural heritage all make this the ideal place to visit.
This is definitely a family friendly festival with lots to do for old and young and we invite you, your family and friends to join us for this amazing showcase of all that you can see and do in Langebaan on the long weekend of 1 & 2 May 2015 and entrance on both days is absolutely free of charge! Gates will be open from 09:00 – 17:00 daily.
We kick off the program on Friday 1 May 2015 at 09:00 with various fun activities on the beach including a Sand art Competition open to the local schools in Langebaan & some fun Boeresport activities on the beach with lots of prizes to be won throughout the day. Explore just over 80 good quality Stalls, a Wellness Expo, Dedicated Kids Entertainment Area and Go carts on the beach, a Solo Flying Exhibition by the Silver Falcons, a Golf putting competition by the Langebaan Country Estate, a Craft Beer festival at Windtown and a Classic car display on both days. Live music on stage will start from 13:30 – 17:00 with local talent such as Charlene Cassisa, Dawid van der Merwe, Louis van Lill as well as well-known artist Viljoen Retief.
After the daily activities, a few evening events will be hosted. Friday evening the Laguna Mall will host a Cheese & Wine tasting and a night flying demonstration by the West Coast Radio Control Flying Club. A Full moon walk on the main beach will start at 18:00 and a Full Moon Cycle takes place at the Langebaan Country Estate as from 19:30.
On Saturday 2 May the program starts off at 08:00 with a 5km & 10km Fun Run at Langebaan Country Estate, registration starts from 06:30. Our annual Weslander Touch Rugby Tournament on the main beach will open the day’s activities from 09:00 followed by a demonstration by the very talented local Langebaan Gymnastics Club. An art exhibition, coffee & chocolate pairing and light back ground music by members of the local West Coast Youth Orchestra will take place in the Marra Square, just off Bree Street. The line up on stage from 13:30 – 17:00 will include Charlene Cassisa, JJ, Amber K, Deon Terblanche, Chris Rain and Wouter van De Venter.
Other activities that will be taking place in and around town over the weekend includes a Radio Control Flying Demonstration & a Skateboarding Competition. Support our local Restaurants with various seafood specials available over the weekend. The Cheese and Wine tasting will continue at the Laguna Mall together with a Cake Baking Competition open to both professionals and novices. The evening there will be a flying demo on the main beach by the Radio Control Flying Club of the West Coast.
For golf lovers, this is a weekend not to be missed. Join us on Friday morning for the West Coast Classic Competition with a shotgun start at 08:30 as well as a 9-hole golf event from 14:30 at the Langebaan Country Estate. Saturday at 08:30 take part in the Alliance Stableford Mystery Scores and end the evening off with Night Golf the evening at 19:00 followed by live music at the Langebaan Country Estate. Special packages for the weekend is also available on request.
Please note that Bree Street will be closed for traffic from 06:00 – 18:00 on both days and the entrance to Bree Street from Suffren Street will be closed from Thursday 30 April 17:00 – Saturday 2 May 18:00.
