ABALONE HOUSE ANNOUNCES THE DEVELOPMENT OF A ‘HEALING EARTH SPA’

South Africa, Paternoster, May 2013; SET to open in time for South Africa’s spring; the 5-star Abalone House Boutique Guesthouse in Paternoster on the West Coast is to launch a Healing Earth Spa by September.

The range of products and treatments are both revolutionary and unique, from crystal and scent therapies, through healing herbs and super-foods, to the more conventional yoga and body massages.

And the setting couldn’t be more conducive to relaxation and restoration, the spa which will have five therapy rooms is situated within the 5-star Abalone House Boutique Guesthouse; a haven of living colour, flanked by ice-white beaches and the lapping Atlantic.

Our approach is as innovative as our treatments and products,’ explains Healing Earth founder Elisabeth Brandt, doyenne of the South African spa industry. ‘Clients choose a time-frame, and our therapists tailor a holistic package that fits into that time and which best suits the client’s needs and requirements.’

The package may include a range of treatments, from a detox using herbal teas and super-foods, through healing-herb scent therapy, a treatment with African aloe for sun damage, rejuvenation using Brandt’s signature body products, or a de-stress that includes a combination of different massages. Particularly distinctive are the ‘Ultimate Rituals’ facials, for which the therapist mixes a face balm customised to the client’s skin. The warm-sand bed – where clients lie in heated sand that simulates the delicious drowsiness of lying on the beach – is sure to prove a big hit with stressed city folk on the search for real relaxation.

Healing Earth’s flagship ranges, which include Vinotherapeutic Pinotage facial and body products, and the Earth Soul body range that harness the medicinal powers of our native plants, flowers and herbs, including Kalahari melon, baobab, rooibos and marula, are exclusively used in the spa,’ says Brandt.

Abalone House will offer innovative Healing Earth’s spa packages ranging from day programmes to 3 – 5 day spa retreat packages and that will include various therapies in individual colour- and crystal-themed rooms, a perfect match for the sumptuousness of Abalone House with its magnificent sea views, indigenous gardens, wind chimes and running water. The space is calm, relaxing and opulent, and the ideal place to kick back and get seriously spoilt.

MORE ABOUT ABALONE HOUSE
A
balone House, Paternoster’s first five-star boutique guesthouse has 10 luxurious suites that flow off a central courtyard, where the sound of running water and wind chimes are background music emanating from the very heart of the establishment. Some of the suites have magnificent sea views that provide natural theatre to guests, and others overlook beautiful indigenous gardens. All suites have opulent, oversized, extra length beds beautifully swathed in monogrammed cotton percale linen.

While cocooning in your suite, there’s an iPod docking station, a flat-screen television, CD and DVD player to enjoy. Select a DVD or book from the extensive in-house library and curl up in-suite and relax. The cappuccino/espresso machine and a well-stocked mini-bar ensure your favorite beverage is always close at hand.

To diffuse the heat of summer, air-conditioning is standard in every suite – and throughout the entire establishment too – along with under-floor heating in the bedrooms and bathrooms, a welcome addition during winter. There are also heated towel rails and wall heaters, while yellow, plastic-duck bath toys add a touch of humour to the décor of bathrooms.

To socialize, the Africa Bar is the meeting place, cosily arranged to include a massive stone fireplace which warms the room in winter. In summer, the glass doors are flung open to incorporate the coolness of the courtyard pool. Yet, in all seasons the Africa Bar is vibrant and inviting and serves the full range of tipples – including a special selection of cocktails. French champagnes, the world’s top six single-malt whiskeys, and the finest brandies are also available to guests.

The exotically appointed Saffron Restaurant is a feast for all senses. Apart from decadent world cuisine that liberally incorporates fresh local ingredients and seafood, the décor is a visual sensation. Feather-trimmed lampshades, high-backed velvety chairs, throngs of orchids, vibrant art work and liberal splashes of saffron red make Saffron Restaurant an unforgettable sensory experience.

Orchids can be found everywhere at Abalone House, but in the sun-splashed Orchid Room banks of them appear as an exotic interior garden. Breakfasts and afternoon teas are served here, surrounded by sea views and indigenous gardens right outside. The space is calm, relaxing and opulent, always light and sunny, and beckons guests to pull up a chair and play a board game, or kick back with a good book. It’s the good life, which is what Abalone House is all about.
