POP UP SHOP
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport and the Cape Craft and Design Institute have collaborated in setting up a Mosaic Exhibition and Handmade Product POP UP SHOP in the West Coast Mall in Vredenburg running from Wednesday 27th until the end of the weekend closing on the 1 December.
The exhibition of mosaic work is from a programme run by DCAS whereby they undertook to train craft producers from the area in the art of mosaic. The people who participated in this workshop were drawn from a group of physically challenged craft producers from Sisonke Protective Workshop and Siyabonga Care Village. Their skills training was undertaken during June and July in Saldanha and Vredenburg – themosaic pieces that have been created out of this training will be on show for the duration of the week and will then be transported to be displayed at the MelkbosOppie See a cultural facility in Melkbos Strand. Come and view these exciting pieces that will be on display.
The POP UP SHOP will be showcasing handmade products from the region. Participants were drawn from the pool of producers on the CCDI database who reside on the West Coast . It is going to be the perfect opportunity for peopleto buy locally made products as Christmas presents . By supporting these producers, you will be putting your money back into the community! There is going to be a variety of locally produced products for you to choose from, so come and show your support!
The shop is on the Upper Level in shop U11 accessed through gate 3.
