WEST COAST NATIONAL PARK

Where sheltered islands host thousands of seabirds, and the azure waters of the Langebaan Lagoon’s brooding salt marshes are home to vast concentrations of migrant waders.  The surrounding Strandveld blooms with a tapestry of multi-hued flowers in Spring.

DAILY CONSERVATION FEE

Members of SANParks’ loyalty programme WILD do not pay conservation fees provided that proof of Identity and their WILD card are shown on arrival

 

OUTSIDE FLOWER SEASON

South African Citizens and Residents (with ID)............ R40,00 per adult / R20,00 per child, per day

SADC Nationals (with passport)................................... R60,00 per adult / R30,00 per child, per day

Standard Conservation Fee............. R60,00 per adult / R30,00 per child, per day

 

INSIDE FLOWER SEASON (AUGUST & SEPTEMBER)

South African Citizens and Residents (with ID)............ R56,00 per adult / R28,00 per child, per day

SADC Nationals (with passport)................................... R80,00 per adult / R40,00 per child, per day

Standard Conservation Fee............ R120,00 per adult / R60,00 per child, per day

Speed limit 50km/h

No pets allowed

Please dispose of litter in the marked refuse bins

No fires allowed on beaches

Please do not pick up tortoises or disturb any wildlife

Please do not pick the flowers or plants

Walking and cycling are restricted to the hiking and cycling trails respectively

Please note that even if you reside in the park, driving is only allowed during gate opening times

Gate times:

September - March:  7:00 - 19:00, last vehicle entry at 18:30

April - August: 7:00 - 17:00, last vehicle entry to Postberg 16:30

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR VEHICLE IS LOCKED AT ALL TIMES>  DO NOT LEAVE VALUEABLES IN YOUR VEHICLE WHILE UNATTENDED!

Langebaan Lagoon Crossing
On 24 (or 25) March 2012, the 3rd Annual Langebaan Lagoon Crossing will be held, where participants will cross the Langebaan Lagoon from Shark Bay to Kraal Bay using muscle power alone. Although planned as an open water swim, swimming aids, kayaks, paddle boards, surf boards and any other more original methods are allowed and encouraged. Maximum fun, environmental awareness and safety remain the main themes of the 2012 event.
